Fitness
Fitness is an important component of your pet’s health. Strength training is necessary when recovering from an injury or surgery especially after activity restrictions are lifted because the muscles are weaker and new injures are possible if gradual strengthening is not initiated.
Weight loss may be useful for your pet, especially as they slowdown or age. We recommend fitness evaluations when dogs are not performing as well as they used to since dogs are not always careful with their bodies and unfortunately minor injuries can lead to a life time of problems, especially if the dog is overweight.
During a fitness evaluation, the therapist will work to identify minor spine, bony, or muscular tension/dysfunctions, as well as co-ordination issues with the goal of helping your dog reach peak performance. Manual therapy and exercise programs are often prescribed to address these concerns as early as possible.
*It is important to note that our fitness evaluations are not intended to replace your regular veterinary check-up and care.
